This 3 day interactive training course will provide delegates with insights into the rapidly developing Green, Social, Sustainable and Sustainability-linked loan and capital markets. Sovereign, corporate and financial institutions/asset managers are responding to governmental, investor/lender and environmental activists who increasingly require a strategic company position to be taken towards climate change, worsening social conditions post-pandemic and governance issues.
This course will consider best practice (EU/UK regulations and EU taxonomy) within ESG loans and capital markets in order to provide vital context to the way in which these products are structured, verified, reported and managed. The International Capital Market Association’s (ICMA) and the Loan Market Association (LMA) bond and loan principles will be used to underpin the learning and case studies.
- Understand and explain the evolving EU/UK regulatory and governance trends in ESG.
- Identify and understand the role of key players in the ESG loan/bond markets.
- Become familiar with ICMA/LMA Green, Social and Sustainability bond/loan principles.
- Explore the pricing and issuance considerations for ESG loans and bonds
- Analyse the risks/phenomena of greenwashing, greenium and greenflation.
- Understand the challenges of making/issuing social loans/bonds.
- Utilise the core ESG principles: Use of Proceeds, Project Evaluation and Selection, KPIs/SPTs, Management of Proceeds, Reporting and External Reviews.
- Analyse the core compliance, credit, legal, operational, reputational risks of this class of assets.
