This course provides a comprehensive introduction to the Securitisation of different products and assets through the application of real-world examples. We will assess the risks and rewards that can be gained from the pooling of assets including CMOs & CDOs, Z bonds, derivatives and commercial mortgages.
By the end of this course the participants will:
- Understand the fundamentals of securitization, including how assets are pooled and sold to investors
- Be familiar with key structures, players, and risks involved in securitization
- Learn how to evaluate, price, and assess the risks of securitized products
- Explore practical applications and emerging trends in the securitization market
- Provide an introduction to securitization and the simple securitized products
- Dive into how assets are pooled together and prepared for securitization
- Provide an introduction to the securitization process, using simple MBSs as a study example
- Analyse the risks that arise from simple securitized products
- Learn about how the risks and rewards for a pool of assets can be tranched into different risks with different expected returns
- Gain an understanding into the credit derivatives market and discuss how derivatives can be securitized as well as assets
- Learn how securitized products are sold and distributed to investors
